We have made it through another school year.

Soon the new will begin.

Sweet boy, your character has improved so much in the last year, and that is what I value the most.

Yes, you are reading voraciously.

Yes, your appetite for learning and flair for drama still cause collisions in your heart and mind (and sometimes externally as well.)

But you are becoming a little boy who ponders deep questions about God, life, existence, why our family is different than others.

Today you questioned how we knew that God wanted our family to be in France.  That is a good question, and I’m glad you asked it.

Pressures are mounting, and you’re noticing the world around you.  You’re wanting to be like your friends.  This next year we’ll both navigate how to choose friends and how to say goodbye to friends.

You’ll also be gaining a schoolmate this year.  Your best friend and confidant who has really been just hanging around in your school lessons anyway.

I’m excited about the new and challenging things we’ll be learning together this year, because that’s what it really is.

I learn just as much as you do.
